Whether you grew up playing Tongits sa bahay or discovered it with your barkada, PasaySlot brings that same excitement straight to your screen — anytime, anywhere, 24/7.
The card table has moved online — but the Filipino spirit stays the same.
If you've ever spent a lazy Sunday afternoon shuffling a worn-out deck with your lola or pulled an all-nighter with your college tropa, you already know why Tongits holds a special place in Filipino culture. It's not just a card game — it's practically a tradition. And now, PasaySlot makes it possible to carry that tradition in your pocket.
At PasaySlot, Tongits isn't an afterthought tacked onto a catalogue of imported casino games. It's a headline game built from the ground up for the Filipino market — smooth on mobile, fast-loading even on basic LTE, and designed to feel familiar the moment you sit down at a table. Whether you're commuting along EDSA, waiting for your order at Jollibee, or unwinding after a long shift, a real Tongits session is just a tap away.
The platform matches you with players across the Philippines, so there's always a table open. You can jump into casual rooms to warm up, or step into competitive tables where the stakes — and the excitement — are a lot higher. The controls are clean, the card animations are satisfying, and the chat lets you throw in a quick "huwag ka na" when someone keeps fishing for the same suit.
New to the game? Here's everything you need to know before your first hand.
Tongits is a three-player rummy-style card game played with a standard 52-card deck. The goal is simple: reduce the total value of the cards left in your hand to zero — or as low as possible — by drawing, discarding, and forming valid sets and runs.
Exactly 3 players per table. The dealer gets 13 cards; the other two get 12 each.
On your turn, draw one card from the stock or pick up the top discard, then discard one card to end your turn.
Call "Tongits!" when your hand is empty, or win a fight — a showdown where the player with the lowest deadwood wins.
Valid melds come in two forms: a set (three or four cards of the same rank, e.g., three 7s) or a run (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, e.g., 4♠ 5♠ 6♠). Once a meld is on the table, other players can burn (sablay) a card onto it — a crucial tactical move that keeps the tension alive throughout every round.
Card values matter a lot here. Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) carry 10 points each; Ace carries 1 point; number cards carry their face value. When a fight is called, the player with the fewest points in their remaining hand wins. At PasaySlot, the system calculates everything automatically, so you can focus on strategy instead of counting cards in your head.
Know your melds — they're your path to a lower deadwood count.
| Meld Type | Example | Minimum Cards | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Set (Sagnat) | K♠ K♥ K♦ | 3 | Same rank, any suit. Four-of-a-kind also valid. |
| Run (Sequence) | 7♣ 8♣ 9♣ | 3 | Same suit, consecutive ranks. Ace is always low. |
| Burn (Sablay) | Adding 9♣ to 7♣ 8♣ | 1 | Extend an opponent's exposed meld. Reduces your own deadwood. |
| Tongits | Empty hand | – | Instant win. Declare when your last card is discarded or melded. |
| Fight Win | Lowest deadwood | – | Wins the pot when a fight is called before the deck runs out. |

Strategy goes a long way — ask any Tongits veteran.
The moment you have a valid set or run, lay it down. Keeping melds in your hand is risky — you're just carrying more points if someone calls a fight unexpectedly.
If two players have already thrown away 9♦, chasing a run through 9♦ is a dead end. Adapt your target melds based on what's already out of the game.
Burning a card onto an opponent's meld reduces your own deadwood — but it also confirms what they're building. Only burn when it genuinely lowers your risk.
Don't wait for a perfect hand. If the stock is getting low and your deadwood is under 10 points, it's often smarter to force a fight than risk someone else emptying their hand first.
